DUST EVENT SUNDAY OCTOBER 9, 2018
Dear Green Valley Desert Hills No. 4, Inc. Residents:
Yesterday, I received the following e-mail from Don Weaver President of Green Valley Council about the dust that broke lose from the mine on Sunday. If you have any questions please contact Freeport at the number listed in GVC’s e-mail. Also attached is a finding of the health risk from the dust.
Dear GVC Members and County Officials
Attached is a letter from David A. Barnes, Manager Environmental for Freeport McMoRan. This letter is a summary of the health risks concerning the dust event this past Sunday October 9, 2018. Freeport McMoRan Sierrita, Inc. has accepted full responsibility for the result of this event caused by high winds, dust impacting the residents in Green Valley. If you have any questions or concerns, you can call Freeport McMoRan’s hotline (520)393-4426. Also, you can access the risk evaluation of wind-blown tailings in a report at the GVC Office, 555 N. La Canada Drive, Green Valley, or our website GVCouncil.org.
Freeport McMoRan wants all Green Valley residents to know that if you have any issues because of the above event, please call the hotline number 520-393-4426 and let them know your issue. They have assured us they will take care of it.
In conclusion, we would like to thank the officials at Freeport McMoRan for acting in a responsible manner by taking corrective actions concerning this unfortunate event.
